What's on the Bonus DVD

Included with "Chicora Chronicle" is the "Bonus DVD," which contains a rich variety of items, such as:

- Four selected tracks from Albert Stoddard's "Animal Tales Told in the Gullah Dialect," recorded in 1949. Mr. Stoddard grew up on Daufuskie Island, S.C., where he learned the Gullah dialect. An accomplished storeyteller, Mr. Stoddard's enthusiasm and natural sense of timing shine through in these four selections, graciously provided by Mr. Stoddard's heirs (all rights reserved):

  • "B'Allegetter Sees Trouble"
  • "How Buh Hound Got His Long Mouth"
  • "E Might Ober Run de Law!"
  • "The Tar Baby"

- An entertaining and informative video from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, covering the history of the oyster industry in this region, as well as CBF's reclamation efforts to salvage and preserve what remains of this once great industry.

- Friends of the River, a lowcountry organization whose mission is to protect the quality of local water resources, has also furnished video of one of their local oystermen, Joe Young.

- And more...

The Bonus DVD is not available separately. It's our way of saying "Thank You!" to purchasers of "Chicora Chronicle."
